Victoria Park Centre for the Arts:

Our philosophy: To provide people of all ages, cultures and economic backgrounds with a supportive, cooperative environment in which they can appreciate and present art. The centre is guided by the principles of social justice, access and equity which include: respect for people’s rights and choices, fairness, trust, community development, self help, human rights and non-discrimination.

Pleasant surrounds under the Jacaranda treeThe Victoria Park Centre for the Arts is a 1940's quaint weatherboard building which is a characteristic of the area.The building has been developed into a facility, which provides for local community cultural needs with exhibition area, craft shop, meeting room and management office. Our new studio building accessible via decking is built as a workshop/teaching space, darkroom, storeroom and kitchen with large bi fold doors that open for views of the garden and art installations.

The centre has been modified by design for disability access and inclusion, receiving the ‘Access Commendation’ in the Town of Victoria Park’s 2006 Enhanced Access Awards.’

Disability Access Situated close to Albany Highway and on main bus routes, the Centre is conveniently located. It is close to many amenities such as the Park Centre Shopping Centre, the Victoria Park Library and the Park Recreation Centre.

Current projects happening at the centre include Beyond the Fence garden project, including a water feature, Art Walk, artist studio space, artist register/database, Art Awards event and activities and planning to be included in Artopia 2007.

 

Membership:

Membership of the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts gives members the opportunity to have 10% discount card from Jacksons Drawing Supplies, reduced rates for some of the workshop program classes, reduced rate for room/venue hire, 15% commission taken from sales in exhibitions and the shop, feature in the regular display/exhibition in gallery, recieve e-bulletins and four newsletters a year. Membership is $25 per year, $20 for concession, $35 for a family, $50 for a non profit organisation and $75 for a business. Membership Application 35Kb PDF form.

 

Gallery Room for hireSTUDIO/GALLERY/FRONT ROOM HIRE:

At present the Centre has three defined areas which may be hired, the new Studio Workshop at the rear of the Centre, the Gallery and the front room which is suitable for exhibiting and meetings. The Centre has a number of trestle tables, chairs and easels available to workshop facilitators. Other areas, such as the front and back office spaces may be available for workshops. The Centre has a number of trestle tables and chairs and easels available for workshop facilitators. There is access to a kitchen and toilets at the Centre. If other resources are needed the workshop facilitator should negotiate with the Centre for the use of other items (i.e. easels, special lighting, PA system, etc) or provide the required items themselves.
