SHOP

The shop of the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts features hand made art and craft from professional artisans of WA. The shop grand opening was on the 26th of May 2007. The shop features jewellery, textiles, gift cards, pottery/ceramics, glass ware, wood craft and small art pieces and object d’ art. Appointments by artists/craft people can be made with the shop committee to discuss and view work to be considered for consignment in the shop. Contact the centre for more details.

EXHIBITIONS

Exhibition space includes (Main Gallery Room) 5 m x 11 m plus the (Hall Way) (11 m x 2 m) and Front Room (5 m x 5 m) all with 6 m high walls with track lighting (in Main Gallery Room and Front Room) and picture rails.

EXHIBITION FEE: $800 FOR TWO WEEK EXHIBITION plus
30% COMMISSION ON ALL SALES

EXHIBITION FEE COVERS THE FOLLOWING SERVICES WHICH WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE CENTRE:

• Design and printing of 500 invites including 200 for the artist(s) to distribute
• Distribution of invites to the centres mailing list and to venues such as other art centres, art schools and libraries etc
• Advert in the Western Australian Arts Directory
• Assistance with writing a press release
• Wine and glasses for the exhibition opening
• A written review of the exhibition by the centre’s curator.
• Selection and installation of works for the exhibition by the centre’s gallery curator
• Hosting of the opening including an introduction or speech by the centre’s Director

RESPONSIBILITIES OF EXHIBITING ARTIST(S)

• The artist will provide, at least two months before the exhibition opening, an expression of interest including an exhibition statement, CV, six to twelve images of works to be exhibited and proposed dates for the exhibition.
• The artist will provide all fees payable at least six weeks before exhibition opening unless alternative arrangements are made with the centre Director.
• The artist will provide food/ nibbles for the exhibition opening.
• The artist will staff the Gallery from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday during the exhibition and declare any sales made during these periods.

Studio Space available for hire for workshops, classes, meetings, and forums and community activities. The Studio space is a new area that measures 9 x 9 metres, with a vaulted ceiling with ceiling fans and halogen lights and includes a large wash sink area. A number of trestle tables and chairs are available, there is also sound equipment to hire for functions and the studio features large windows and bi fold doors that open into the garden. There is a fully equipped kitchen for catering, tables and chairs, male, female and disabled toilets. Studio space includes use of easels, boards and drawing benches. Current rates are:

Studio space is a new area that measures 9 x 9 metres, with a vaulted ceiling with ceiling fans and halogen lights and includes a large wash sink area. A number of trestle tables and chairs are available, there is also sound equipment to hire for functions and the studio features large windows and bi fold doors that open into the garden.

The Gallery space is located in the weatherboard house 5 metres by 11 metres with high ornate ceilings, track lighting, picture rail, hanging equipment and various size/height plinths.

An Exhibitors Pack is available to gallery hirer to assist the organisation and running of an exhibition. The exhibitors pack includes examples of artist biography, catalogue, how to write a media release, lease agreement and other various helpful information.

VICTORIA PARK ARTS HUB STUDIO SPACE

Victoria Park Arts Hub studio is a large shed space on offer to 4 working artists who require a working space for a period of 6 months or more, at $30 a week rent. The Arts Hub is a large open plan shed with concrete slab flooring, metal walls (external) with lighting and currently has one large lockable door.

Activities best undertaken in the Arts Hub are;

• Drawing
• Painting
• Jewellery
• Small scale ceramics/clay work
• Small scale sculpture such as papier mache, plaster, mosaics etc (with rules pertaining to dust control for consideration of other artists)

Parking at the front of the Bowling Club provides a short walk to the centre.
